How to Successfully Avoid Weight Gain as a Student

It is very common that when college students go away to school they tend to gain a few, unwanted pounds. From all the time staying in doors studying and going to school it is easy to understand. College students don’t have much time on their hands and it is harder for them to have better and healthier meals. Are you a student that is going through this? There are many ways college students can avoid weight gain in college. Need some ideas? Check out some ideas below so you can put a stop to weight gain.

Sports – Do you and your friends have a few sports that you love playing? If so, get some friends together a few times a week to play your favorite sports. This is a great way to get some exercise, set down the books for a few and have some fun. There is nothing better than burning calories by having fun.

Parking spots – Do you go to a school with a large campus? If so, try parking your car further away from your class’ building. Walking those few extra steps on a daily basis is a great way to burn some extra calories and to get out and enjoy the weather.

Fast food junkie – Are you a fast food junkie? If so, this is probably your main problem. Often when students have such busy schedules they rely on fast food. It is fast, cheap and an easy access for in between classes. Try to avoid going to all fast food joints. The majority of their foods are high in cholesterol, fat, sodium, calories and everything that will add those extra pounds.

Vending machines – When students go to school for a few classes they tend to say, “I don’t need to pack a lunch I won’t get hungry.” Yet when they pass by a vending machine they are hungry. You don’t want to rely on vending machines for meals in college. Just like fast food, vending machines will often provide you with those extra pounds that you don’t want! Instead try packing a little snack or lunch in your backpack.

Set down the pop – College students are often low on energy. So what do they do? They tend to rely on caffeine. What usually has caffeine that students like? Pop. Pop is one of the worst drinks that you can have to drink. They are high in calories, sugar, and have no nutrients. Pop is one of the leading causes for obesity in the world. There are many other drinks out there with flavor and a low amount of calories. Find a drink that works for you if you don’t like just plain water.

There are many things college students can do to avoid weight gain. Try to consider some of the ideas above and you will see how you can loose weight almost instantly. College students often have bad eating habits and by adding healthier foods in your diet you are bound to loose weight. It is important that you stay healthy during your college years. Your body often gets a lot of stress due to school; you don’t need any more harm to your body by becoming over weight.
